Recent news reports have carried stories of how dishonest individuals have contacted citizens and companies regarding items such as social security numbers, credit card numbers, account information, passwords and other sensitive information. In most cases, this request is conducted over the telephone, however; recently these requests have been made via email.

If you do fall victim to a fraud, contact UNB immediately to alert us of the situation. If you have disclosed sensitive information in a phishing attack, you should also contact one of the three major credit bureaus to discuss whether you need to place a fraud alert on your file, which will help prevent thieves from opening a new account in your name.
